Abstract

This study explores the integration of positivism into Islamic education to enhance critical and analytical understanding in addressing contemporary social issues. The main problem addressed is how positivism can contribute to improving students' critical and analytical thinking abilities, as well as the relevance of positivism in answering the challenges of modernizing Islamic education by integrating scientific and spiritual values. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature review analyzing the works of Auguste Comte and scholars such as M. Quraish Shihab. The study finds that the integration of positivism can provide a methodological framework for understanding Islamic teachings in a more systematic and evidence-based manner, without eliminating spiritual values. The findings show that the scientific approach in Islamic education can enrich religious understanding by facilitating critical analysis of religious texts and the application of Islamic teachings in a developing social context. The conclusion of this study is that positivism can address the challenges of modernizing Islamic education, producing a generation that is intellectually intelligent and mature in spiritual values.
