Critical theory is an interdisciplinary approach rooted in the tradition of the Frankfurt School and aims to critique the social, political, and economic structures that create injustice and domination. This article discusses four main aspects of critical theory: its definition, history, core concepts, and examples in contemporary contexts. The history of critical theory is traced from its development in Europe in the early 20th century to its current relevance, focusing on the thought of figures such as Max Horkheimer, Theodor Adorno, and Jürgen Habermas. Key concepts such as instrumental rationality, reification, and the critique of ideology are explored to show how the theory offers a unique analytical framework. Examples of critical theory's application in modern issues, such as the role of media in the reproduction of power, digital disruption, and social inequality, provide insights into its potential in creating social transformation. This article aims to strengthen the understanding of critical theory and its relevance in social analysis and action.
