This study aims to reconstruct the concept of andragogy by analyzing the pedagogical dimensions in the story of Prophet Musa AS and Prophet Khidr AS based on the perspective of Ibn ‘Asyur's Interpretation (Tafsir). Using a qualitative method with a library research type and a hermeneutic-pedagogical approach, this study examines four main elements of learning: goals, educators, learners, and educational materials. The results show that Ibn ‘Asyur's Tafsir offers an andragogy model that transcends Western paradigms by emphasizing intellectual humility, continuous spiritual supervision, and the integration of "ladunni" knowledge as a balancer to academic positivism. The implications of this study confirm that adult education in Islam must place faith (aqidah) and morals (akhlak) as the main foundation to form learners who are not only professionally competent but also spiritually mature.

Keywords: Andragogy; Story of Musa-Khidr; Ibn ‘Asyur's Tafsir; Islamic Education; Society 5.0
Kisti Robati; Resi Hanifah, Muhammad Ni’amul Hanif, Amalia Istiqomah, Qonita Zamroji Copyright (c) 2026 Kisti Robati; Resi Hanifah, Muhammad Ni’amul Hanif, Amalia Istiqomah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.unugiri.ac.id/index.php/AL-AUFA/article/view/6522 Thu, 25 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Implementation Deep Learning Approach in Islamic Religious Education Learning as an Effort to Enhance Students’ Humanistic Religious Character at SMA Negeri 1 Purwosari https://journal.unugiri.ac.id/index.php/AL-AUFA/article/view/6556
Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the deep learning approach in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning as an effort to improve the religious humanist character of students at SMA Negeri 1 Purwosari. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation involving PAI teachers, students, the principal, and the vice principal for curriculum. The results showed that the implementation of deep learning was carried out through active, reflective, and contextual learning using discussion, problem-solving, reflection, and spiritual habituation methods. This approach was able to increase student engagement in learning and help strengthen religious humanist characters such as empathy, tolerance, responsibility, and spiritual awareness. In addition, meaningful and student-centered learning makes Islamic values easier to understand and apply in everyday life. This study confirms that the deep learning approach has an important contribution in creating PAI learning that is more humanistic, reflective, and relevant to the needs of modern education.

Keywords: Deep Learning; Islamic Religious Education (PAI); Humanistic Religious Character
Fa'iqotul Himmah, Ahmad Marzuki, Achmat Mubarok, Achmad Yusuf Copyright (c) 2026 Fa'iqotul Himmah Nur Khayati, Ahmad Marzuki, Achmad Yusuf https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.unugiri.ac.id/index.php/AL-AUFA/article/view/6556 Thu, 25 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Student Ethics in the Perspective of the Qur’an and Hadith as a Foundation for Character Building in Islamic Education https://journal.unugiri.ac.id/index.php/AL-AUFA/article/view/6558
Abstract

Education in Islam does not merely emphasize the mastery of knowledge but also the cultivation of students’ morals and ethics. The Qur’an and Hadith provide clear guidance regarding the attitudes that should be embodied by learners in the process of seeking knowledge. This article aims to examine the ethics of students from the perspective of the Qur’an and Hadith and their relevance to contemporary education. This study employs a library research method by analyzing various written sources, including academic journals, Qur’anic verses, Hadith, and classical exegesis related to student ethics. The analysis focuses on selected Qur’anic verses concerning the ethics of seeking knowledge, particularly Surah Luqman verse 18 and Surah Al-Kahf verses 62 and 66–70, as well as Hadith on the virtues of seeking knowledge. The findings indicate that the ethics of students in Islam include humility, respect for teachers, diligence in learning, and patience in the process of acquiring knowledge. This study is expected to serve as a guideline for educators and students in implementing Islamic educational ethics effectively.

Keywords: Ethics; Students; Al-Quran; Hadith; Islamic Education
M. The Pegon script holds significant value as both a cultural heritage and a marker of Islamic identity among the Pattani Malay community. The objectives of this research are twofold: to describe the teachers' roles in Pegon instruction and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors associated with it. A descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data collection techniques included semi-structured interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman framework, which consists of data condensation, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The findings reveal three primary roles of PAI teachers: as educators, facilitators, and motivators. Supporting factors include a conducive sociocultural environment, teacher motivation and background, as well as family and community support. Conversely, inhibiting factors involve linguistic challenges and the growing detachment of younger generations from the Malay language tradition. The study concludes that although PAI teachers at Chongraksat Wittaya School play an active role in preserving the Pegon script, there remains a need to strengthen more adaptive teaching methods.

Keywords: PAI teacher role; Arab Pegon learning; Chongraksat Wittaya; Islamic education in Thailand
Azizah nurma via Azizah nurma via, Imam Mashuri , Rifki Firdaus Copyright (c) 2026 Azizah nurma via Azizah nurma via, Imam Mashuri , Rifki Firdaus https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.unugiri.ac.id/index.php/AL-AUFA/article/view/6565 Thu, 25 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Analysis Of Islamic Religion Learning Based On Jawi Script: “A Case Study At Ban Sipo School, Narathiwat, Southern Thailand”SIS OF ISLAMIC RELIGION LEARNING BASED ON JAWI SCRIPT: “A CASE STUDY AT BAN SIPO SCHOOL, NARATHIWAT, SOUTHERN THAILAND” https://journal.unugiri.ac.id/index.php/AL-AUFA/article/view/6572
Abstract

This study aims to analyze Islamic religious education based on the Jawi script at Ban Sipo School, Narathiwat, Southern Thailand, as a pedagogical practice and a form of preserving Malay Islamic literacy in a multilingual educational context. The issue addressed in this research concerns the gap between the symbolic importance of Jawi as a marker of Malay-Muslim identity and students’ practical ability to read and understand Jawi religious texts. This study employed a qualitative approach with an exploratory case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and documentation studies involving the principal, vice principal, Islamic education teachers, and students selected through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed thematically through data reduction, coding, pattern grouping, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that Jawi-based learning is implemented through reading, imitating, explaining, and repeating, with teachers acting as literacy models. The study also found that Jawi is interpreted as a medium of religious knowledge transmission and cultural identity, although students still face literacy challenges. The study emphasizes the necessity of structured, adaptive, and multilingual learning strategies to strengthen Jawi literacy in Islamic education.

Keywords: Islamic religious learning; Jawi script; Malay Islamic literacy; multilingual education
Husnawan Aziz Nawan, Imam Mashuri, Rifqi Firdaus Copyright (c) 2026 Husnawan Aziz Nawan, Imam Mashuri, Rifqi Firdaus https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.unugiri.ac.id/index.php/AL-AUFA/article/view/6572 Thu, 25 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Strategies of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in Strengthening Students’ Religious Character through Immersive Technology https://journal.unugiri.ac.id/index.php/AL-AUFA/article/view/6589
This study aims to analyze the strategies of Islamic Religious Education teachers in strengthening students’ religious character through immersive learning based on Virtual Reality. This study is motivated by the increasing psychological distress among adolescents due to academic pressure, social dynamics, and exposure to digital media, which affect students’ emotional well-being. Although various studies have shown a relationship between spirituality and mental health, research on the internalization of Islamic spirituality as a factor in strengthening psychological resilience in madrasahs remains limited. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design at MA Arraudlah Tumapel Duduksampeyan Gresik. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the madrasah principal, Islamic Education (PAI) teachers, guidance counselors, homeroom teachers, and students. The results indicate that the internalization of Islamic spirituality is achieved through the regular practice of religious activities, teachers’ exemplary behavior, and daily religious practices. Activities such as congregational prayer, istighosah, tahlil, and communal prayer help students manage their emotions, reduce academic anxiety, and improve their ability to adapt to psychological stress. This study confirms that Islamic spirituality serves as a form of religious coping in strengthening the psychological resilience of Generation Z students at the madrasah.
Nashrullah, Trisyah Nakhwanda, Fadzilatul Riski Mubarokah, Robiah Al Adawiyah Copyright (c) 2026 Nashrullah, Trisyah Nakhwanda, Fadzilatul Riski Mubarokah, Robiah Al Adawiyah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.unugiri.ac.id/index.php/AL-AUFA/article/view/6594 Thu, 25 Jun 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Transcending Epistemological Binaries: Harmonizing Bayani And Burhani Reasoning In Contemporary Pesantren Education In The Global Era https://journal.unugiri.ac.id/index.php/AL-AUFA/article/view/6597
Abstract

The discourse on Islamic education in Indonesia, particularly within the pesantren tradition, is often trapped in a persistent epistemological binary: the traditionalist approach focusing on textual authority (bayani) vis-à-vis the modern educational paradigm emphasizing empirical rationality (burhani). This dichotomy results in an educational schizophrenia where religious piety and scientific competency are perceived as mutually exclusive domains. This article aims to propose a comprehensive epistemological reconstruction for contemporary pesantren by harmonizing bayani and burhani reasons. Using a philosophical approach based on Muhammad Abed Al-Jabiri’s Critique of Arab Reason and Amin Abdullah’s Integration-Interconnection theory, this study argues that the preservation of tradition (turats) and the adoption of modern science are not contradictory but complementary. The findings suggest that harmonizing these reasons creates a 'Spider Web' of knowledge where Revelation serves as the ethical foundation and normative guide, while modern science functions as the analytical tool to decipher natural and social realities. This synthesis allows pesantren to produce 'Ulama-Scientists' who possess both spiritual depth and the intellectual agility to address global challenges such as ecological crises, bioethics, and digital disruption.

Keywords: Epistemological Binary; Bayani and Burhani; Pesantren Education; Islamic Philosophy of Science; Spider Web Theory
M.
